Sock Hop

daVid was back in town so of course it was time for a BBQ. Things started off pretty low key: just some good food with good people. Then come 9 o’clock ‘Surfin’ Bird’ by The Trashmen came on the stereo. Next thing I know its 3am, there’s a shirtless dude around every corner, the house is demolished, my room is torn apart, there are no springs left in my bed, the couch is upside down, the floor is shaped like a 1/2 pipe, there are about 20 socks hanging on just about anything you could imagine in my room. The night started to simmer down and we watched the Girl Next Door. Its just after 5am now and its time to go to sleep, but my bed feels ohh so lonely with out 5 other people in it.

You could say it was a pretty decent night.

Pictures never do nights like these justice.

Lost in the Woods: The Sequel

So tonight me, Peterson, Ashley and who knows who else are going to the Fells for a little night hike. The last time we did this was definitely a memorable night amoungst all that went, and hopefully tonight will be no different. We actually recorded a documentary (~20mb audio file) of what happened that night right after it happened. I haven’t listened to it since that night really but I thought it’d be funny to put it up here before we went out again this time.

For FireFox fans who hate PDFs

All too often I’ll be clicking my way through a website when all of a sudden I find myself hung, waiting for Adobe Acrobat Reader to load because I clicked on a link that I did not realize was for a PDF file. To make matters worse, now that this is loaded inside of FireFox, if I should happen to close the window and all of the tabs in it, I often find myself having to kill Acrobat manually (this is when I’m using windows of course. <3 ImageViewer). Well, thanks to cortana‘s comment on slashdot, here’s the solution you’ve all been waiting for. Just add the following to your userContent.css file to add [pdf] to the end of any link pointing to a pdf file.

a[href$=”.pdf”]:after {
font-size: smaller;
content: ” [pdf]”;
}

Also from the same comment was the following to add [new] to any link that will open in a new window.

:link[target=”_blank”]:after, :visited[target=”_blank”]:after,
:link[target=”_new”]:after, :visited[target=”_new”]:after
{
font-size: smaller;
content: ” [new]”;
}

…and [js] (edited from [shite]) to any link with javascript in it.

a[href^=”javascript:”]:after
{
font-size: smaller;
content: ” [shite]”;
}
