Good Morning!

I slept pretty good last night. I’m a little sore and had a couple of scares, but nothing I couldn’t handle or a little bit of riding won’t shake off.

The scare: Last night, after it was really dark and long after I had gone to sleep, I awoke to a distant light shining in my general direction and someone talking over a loudspeaker. I’m pretty sure they said something like “This is not a place for sleeping.” I didn’t see any flashing lights, but I’m pretty sure that it was a police officer, although it could have been a park ranger or something similar. Luckily enough fo me, there was a car inbetween the officer and myself, and once it left, so did he. I really don’t think it was all that big of a deal because from the way I saw things (which could be very off, I definitely wasn’t more than 1/2 awake) the officer didn’t even enter the parking lot, which is ungated. Still that was enough of a scare that for the rest of the night any time a car drove by that was loud enough to wake me, I’d sit up, look around to make sure this were still ok, and then go back to sleep.

Today looks like its goig to be a great day. I pulled all my stuff out of the woods onto the pavement to try and dry things from the dew last night before I put them away. Once I finish this post, I’m going to make myself a bowl of cold oatmeal (I ditched my stove at home to try ad save weight), give my dad a call to wish him a Happy Father’s Day, pack up my stuff, and head out.

Today’s goal is somewhere just over the NY state boarder (Millerton/Pine Plains area) .
